Marc by Marc Jacobs Show Off Leather Tote | Chloe Marcie Small Satchel Bag | 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli Satchel
So I need your help!! I am trying to make a decision on THE perfect black bag and I need your opinion. I know there are FAR more pressing decisions to make, but this has been on my to-do list for not one, but TWO years. During those two years, I have bought a few much cheaper, yet cute bags, but none of them have been "the one."
But now it's time. It's time to make a decision. I've worked my butt off to save the money. I've saved. I'm ready.
I think.
That's where you come in. The visual and analytical side of me created this list of pros and cons to help with the decision making process. The lists are small because in a perfect world, I'd buy all three of these classic babies. That's how much I love all of them. But I can only get one. And the Shopbop sale ends today!
Which one would you choose and why? Do you have either of these bags? If so, what do you love about it?
Help a girl out please!
I like the 1st one. It's very chic and clean. I like that it doesn't have a strap.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Darnetha. The first one has a very clean look, which I think is chic and will always be in style. The others look too busy with too much going on to my eye. Bonne chance as the French say.

The Marcie! I love the look of the Pashli but I personally couldn't deal with a flap. I love that Marcie has a zipper closer. The MJ is nice but, like you listed, you have no other carrying options, which to me makes it not as versatile.
ReplyDeleteI do love the Chloe to me, but the first one is a second choice, it is simple and the lines are clean which is good and bad, its not quite as stylish as the Chloe in my humble opinion but then again its timeless. Know whichever you choose will be wonderful and enjoyed! Have fun:)
ReplyDeleteChloe is the first choice, cause its major quality. But it may be slightly on the bo-ho side, at which point I would choose the Phillip Lim. Its awesome, just not sure how long the winged sides will be in style. Which sends me back to the Chloe. Its timeless.
ReplyDeleteIf you can afford it, the Chloe bag. I was in Santa Fe over the Christmas break and saw a lady carrying it and it was beautiful. Honestly, you will love it for years to come...just my opinion, but you asked!
ReplyDeleteOk, we can talk about this for hours, and I think this is going to be long, so I hope you have time to read this! First off, did you know that Kate Spade has extra 25% off sale items today? go check!! There are tons of options! But if Kate Spade is not doing it for you, in my opinion the long strap is kind of a must, at least for me, and if you like taking photos and such it becomes really convenient. To be honest 2 and 3 are my favorites. Not sure about the first option, and even though it is the cheapest, don't base your decision on that because as you said, you've been waiting 2 years for this, so I think it deserves the splurge, plus a black handbag is a classic, so I'll go with the one that really speaks to you. I took this decision last year, and got the Robinson Satchel from Tory Burch, and I'm so happy I did because I had been wishing for it for far too long and it was (and is) the perfect bag for me. I seriously can't choose from 2 and 3, I really love them both but somehow I think you're more number 3? I don't think it is too structured, I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteThis one from Tory Burch is similar to your first option, but I like it more:

Is it too small?
I Just got the Phillip lim satchell, and I love it! You may have seen it on my blog a couple weeks ago. I love that using the zippers can totally transform it into another bag! It is also huge - with so much room on the inside. My only complaint is the lack of storage pockets - need to look into purse organizers ;)
ReplyDeleteXo
Please let us know which one you chose and give us a review. Good luck
ReplyDeleteThe Chloe! Expensive but classic and you've been thinking it for 2 years!
ReplyDeleteHands down, no contest, the Chloe. Yes, it costs more, but you will be so happy you went with quality in the long run. Isn't this the one you wanted when we were in NYC? You have to get it!!!!! Call me if you need encouragement. :)
ReplyDeleteExactly what Gaby said! I love 2 and 3 and think they're the perfect, quality, designer bags, but I love the structure of the Pashli over the hobo-ness of the Chloe. Ultimately, do whatever YOU will feel the most comfortable with, it's your investment! Excited for you!
ReplyDeleteCHLOE ALL THE WAY!!! My dream bag! I love and I will seriously envy you from afar!! ;)
ReplyDeleteShoot. I love number one...but hear you on the strap!
ReplyDeleteFor me its a tough call between the last two... but I think I'm leaning towards the Philip Lim. Structured, yes, but those zip sections that expand it on other side give it a more relaxed look.
ReplyDeleteOh--I gotta go with the Chloe bag! Haha. I kept thinking I like the first option best--but no. Chloe won out. :)
ReplyDeleteNumber three - has a strap and I love the satchel look. Plus it's classic and I find squarer shapes easier to use.
ReplyDeleteI've heard so many bad stories about the craftsmanship of Chloe's (enough to put me off ever getting one)!
And not having a strap (number one) will at some point, drive you mad!

I love #3!!! Great details and definitely need straps :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely go for the Chloe! It is such a timeless and chic bag that is not 'in fashion'. The 2 ways to carry it, the strap + the handles, make it incredibly versatile and well worth the price tag! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the Marc ........ I've always gone with the simplicity.
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 or Number 3!!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,
Trissta
They're all gorgeous!!! You deserve it and can't wait to see which one you pick.
ReplyDeleteI would very much like to agree with the previous commenter! I find this blog really useful for my uni project. I hope to add more useful posts later.
