Hi there! I hope you had a good week! My week was good, but can I be honest with you today about something?? I've been having a hard time tapping into my creative side lately. I thought it was because I was busy with my day job, but that apparently is not the case. Maybe that has shown in some of my recent posts. Maybe it hasn't. Prioritizing my free time, which I don't have a lot of, has become harder over the last few months. Lately, I am finding that curling up with a good book (I'm FINALLY reading this), meeting a friend for dinner and chatting for hours over a really good bottle of wine, and exploring my city and others is more appealing to me than spending time in front of the computer. I'm not sure if this is a phase or if it is permanent, but I just feel like I need to get my thoughts down here at the moment. I love blogging. I really do. But I have got to find more of a better balance. I have also got to stop comparing. I was doing so good at not doing that, but lately the explosion of amazing new blogs and content out there are pulling me back into that hole. Just being honest here...
Anyway, I'm not going to stop blogging- at least for now- but I need to figure out a way to be more comfortable moving forward. Perhaps putting this out there is a first step. That way, I can easily refer back to it. And perhaps you might have some eye-opening insight that might help. If so, I'd love to hear. And perhaps I just need a refreshing weekend ahead! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and please enjoy the links!
I love a graceful, thoughtful blog that makes me feel hopeful about life no matter what. This blog makes me feel that way. I wish I would have found it sooner...

Hi Tiffany, I really love your blog and I always look forward to the Friday link edition. I've been following you for a few years now and I've love how your blog has evolved. I found it to be informative, insightful, playful , creative and beautifully done and honest. I understand that you may feel intimated by some of the other blogs out there , but you shouldn't , most of the authors do that as their full time job, you are juggling a very demanding full time day plus putting out an amazing blog. I have never responded in depth or so heartfelt to another blogger before, but I think your great and very talented, don't give it up you need the creative outlet just continue to reflect find balance and give yourself what you need. Keep up the good work and enjoy the weekend summers coming! Xo Karen .... Ps you must be a CPA or attorney I am married to a corporate tax guy and I understand the life that goes with it ...you need this blog! Good luck
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! You are SO right. People in our profession do need an outlet and this is mine. I just have to figure out a balance. Thank you so much for following along. I appreciate it!
DeleteHi Tiffany. I'm a devoted reader (never comment, but always read). I completely understand how you feel and agree 100% with Karen. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rene!!
DeleteI am another devoted reader, but never commented. I love your voice! There are a ton of great blogs out there, sure, but you provide something uniquely you, and a voice and content I always find calming and genuine. I like that your page isn't overloaded with pics and graphics that just make you want to skim through. Yours makes me stop, read, and learn something new. I always look forward to checking-in on Savor Home!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bethany! That is good feedback that I needed to hear. Thank you for following along!
DeleteYou know I adore you (and the blog) but completely understand the need to step away and experience REAL life once in a while! You're so talented and I've loved watching your food photography evolve and getting to know you as a friend too. I hope you can find a happy balance to stay in this space but make yourself happy too. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAww thanks friend!! We must chat about this over lunch soon!
DeleteI too enjoy your clean-lined, visually stimulating blog and will continue to learn and be inspired by your creativity, WHENEVER, you decide to post. Just this morning, a blog post from someone I haven't heard from in a very long time was sitting in my inbox. From my perspective it doesn't matter how long you step-away (time's moving fast for all of us), it's more important to take care of ourselves first and foremost. Maybe the Universe is trying to show you something now...that needs your undivided attention. I say, listen to your instinct, it always knows best.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna!! You are so right. My instincts are what brought on this post and I've got to start paying attention to them. Thank you so much for reading my blog. I know you have been following for a while and I really appreciate it!
DeleteI just love your blog and completely understand work + blog balance gets interesting. I finally found a sustainable groove when I decided that posting once/week or even less was a perfectly fine goal with a busy career. It does depend on the goal for your blog, but mine will always be a hobby, so that takes the pressure off :) That being said, I've been known to disappear for six months at a pop when really big things come up. Our blogs can be something we carry with us our whole lives, so if you need to hit the pause button, that's perfectly fine. You have all the time in the world to come back when it feels right.
ReplyDeleteP.S. So many blogs are becoming homogeneous. Stick to your style :)
Thanks for more great Friday links!
-Andrea
Thanks Andrea! I'm glad that you were able to found your groove! It is hard when you work full time! I appreciate your feedback, too!
DeleteAfter 4 years of you consistently blogging, I completely understand your need to take a break my friend. That being said, I do not think you should stop. :) You have built so much momentum & you enjoy it... just make it your outlet again instead of feeling that it's your obligation or that you have to compete or be as whatever as the blogs you're comparing your blog to. Remember WHY you started & everything else will fall right into place. :) xoxo, dana
ReplyDeleteThanks girl!! I know we have talked about this a lot! You are absolutely right and I'm going to do just that going forward!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. Your writing is very good, your photos are gorgeous, and you share on interesting and varied topics that I care about. It's the perfect mix of things I love. I feel like I can relate I that I am a professional woman who wants to have new experiences when I'm not working, be healthy, and have home be a sanctuary after a long day. If you must compare yourself to other bloggers, I think you will find your blog is top shelf. How do you do it with a demanding day job? Please don't feel badly about stepping away. I am just getting to your Friday post now because, hey, life is busy. I applaud your for stepping away from the screen. We readers can get too wrapped up in the internet world too so it's a good reminder for all of us. Keep up the amazing work!
